Awkwafina
American musician and actor Awkwafina made her debut with humorous rap tracks that tackled sexuality and racial identities with a an incisive and humorous perspective, before broadening her reach to Hollywood. Nora Lum is the daughter of Chinese and Korean parents who hail from Forest Hills Queens. The trumpet was Nora's first instrument. Apart from classical music and jazz, she began studying hip-hop in her teens. In college, she focused on her studies. She studied women's studies and journalism. In a short period of time in Beijing, Mandarin language classes were also available. Not until after graduation did her focus shift to music. The track My Vag, a response track to the Mickey Avalon's My Dick gained viral popularity on the Internet in 2012. The track was later included in the album debut Yellow Ranger released in 2014. The album also featured hit songs that went viral, such as the body-positive Queef as well as the cheeky hometown tour NYC Bitche$. The track that was published is directly linked to the album The Awkwafinas Guide to NYC, her travel guide for 2015. Her resume included both musicians and an author. Now she was looking to expand her career into acting. Alongside early shows such as Girl Code, Tawk and Bad Rap she also appeared in movies such as Neighbors and Storks. In 2018, her breakthrough role was in Dude Ocean's 8 as well as Crazy Rich Asians. In June, she released In Fina We Trust.
