Courteney Cox is an American actress, director and producer. The most famous of her roles is her role in the TV series 'Friends' and for playing one of the most prominent roles in the film franchise 'Scream. Her birthplace was in Birmingham, Alabama and developed an interest in acting when she was when she was a child. She studied the field of architecture at Mount Vernon College in Washington, DC But, she eventually left her studies for a full-time acting profession. She made her film debut when she starred in the film 'Down Twisted'. She started gaining fame after playing one of major role in the horror slasher film 'Scream'. The film was very successful commercially and earned around 11 times the budget. The film was also praised by film's critics. She reprised her performance in the 3 sequels to the movie. The popularity of Courteney Cox reached highs when she took on the lead role in the cult sitcom "Friends". Her performance was recognized with numerous nominations and awards for her performances. The show, which was a huge hit, aired over ten years. Recent projects include a supporting role in the drama film "Mothers and Daughters". One of the many honors she received include the TV Guide Award for her role in the show "Friends" and the Golden Derby Award for her character in the TV program 'Cougartown'.
